Zanzibar to Require Mandatory Travel Insurance for International Visitors

Starting October 1, 2024, Zanzibar will introduce a mandatory travel insurance requirement for all international visitors. This insurance, provided exclusively by the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC), costs $44 USD and offers coverage for 90 days. The policy includes extensive coverage for medical care, accidents, lost luggage, emergency evacuations, loss of important documents, and repatriation in the event of death. Travelers are required to purchase this insurance before their trip and will need a ZIC-issued QR code to confirm coverage upon entry into Zanzibar.
